McDonalds McFestive [Dec. 1st, 2010|02:56 pm]

Just intercepted this email from my boss describing the new McFestive at McDonalds......

"I won't talk it up too much but interesting I had a full five minute conversation about the ingredients and why both James and myself agreed it was the best burger invented by McDonalds.

Texture - Red Onion gives the burger a nice crunch, Cheesy Foccacia bun is sturdy and doesn't disintegrate. Lettuce crisp and one slice of bacon thin enough not to be problematic.

Taste - All in the sauce. A honey BBQ glaze and peppered mayo, neither of which compete for your attention but are clear and distinct. Particularly impressive was the sweetness of the glaze is toned down so didn't taste sugary and allowed the pepper to prevail nicely.

Post Meal - No McSickness. No buyers remorse. However, still satiated and had a regular meal at 11.15am.

Big Mac was my favourite, however the bread and sauce on the Mc Festive Deluxe is far superior.

I would be very interested to hear your thoughts - I found that the full enjoyment of this particular bun peaked at around the halfway through rather than the first mouthful."

Conclusion and clinical relevance We recommend that (i) rectal temperature is closely monitored during wild badger anaesthesia and (ii) that animals with higher than expected temperatures are treated with additional caution.

Bad Science [Aug. 8th, 2008|02:35 pm]

The effects of LSD on the sleep cycle were studied in 44 kittens during the growth period of 1 to 28 days of age. Electroencephalograms, electromyograms of the posterior neck muscles, and the respiratory rhythm were recorded and gross behavior was observed. With 10 g/kg of d-lysergic acid diethylamide, the per cent time of activated sleep in total sleeping time was diminished. This diminution was less marked in kittens 6 to 8 days of age or younger and became more significant in the kittens 11 to 13 days or older. With 20 g/kg the decrease of per cent time of activated sleep was highly significant at all ages. With a larger dose, the influence of age could no longer be demonstrated. The duration of single episodes of activated sleep showed some evidence of shortening, but this effect was also not related to age.

Orange decided to add a extra layer of menu system. Nothing wrong with that. Let's build brand identity (making the default www.ruinsonyericssonphones.com, etc.)

My K810i is so crippled by this additional layer of crap that i now miss half of my incoming calls. It takes my phone, without fail, over 2 seconds (sometimes over 4s) to answer a call after I press the appropriate button.

I guess that since I have an mp3 ringtone it must take at least 2s for my bogged phone to start playing the audio. Add 2s for me to press answer and 2s for the phone to register this. I miss loads of calls. I am now reduced to attempting to reflash the phone myself.

Do you have any idea how technically difficult that is? I do. Very. It's more than an end-user should have to try and do.

I hate Orange, The future is brightly coloured pisstake.

Thailand [Oct. 9th, 2006|12:40 pm]

[mood |discontentdiscontent]

The criticism of the junta in Thailand in western media belies what has really happened. Thaksin Shinawatra was an incredibly corrupt prime minister who was wholly unpopular anywhere but the far northern countryside where he'd been giving cash hand-outs to poor farmers.

A democracy riddled with corruption and discontent isn't necessarily better than what will result from the coup. Rigged elections are not democratic. Although I understand western countries are unlikely to ever officially support military juntas, they should not be too quick to criticise. Thailand's economic stability is key to future democratic success. America has cut $24m in military aid. Most of the press was highly suspicious and critical of the coup. So far it seems the western world has done more to damage Thailand's chances of a quick return to democracy. Surely by this stage, the powerful western powers should be engaged in talks in order to help bring this about. rather than refusing to recognize the coup leaders and causing further upheaval to Thailand's damaged economy and long-term prospects.
